A LITTLE PLANNING MAKES FOR A STRESS-FREE WORKDAY

It is a fact that if you are stressed, then you cannot be as productive as you could be otherwise. There are exceptions to the rule, too, because some of us find that we work better under stress. However, if stress negatively affects your physical and mental health, you need to stop and look for the cause.

There could be so many things behind your feelings of stress. It could be financial problems, health issues, family relationships, or pressure at work. Once you know what is causing this stress, you will find it easier to manage and overcome it.

Planning your workday is one of the best ways to reduce stress. Planning and some other measures that can be taken to reduce stress at work are talked about below.

Planning

Before going to bed each night or early in the morning, think about what you will do and achieve on that particular day. Your aim should focus upon and motivate yourself to accomplish the goals you have set out for yourself. The best way to start your day is to have an action plan and simple goals to achieve.

Environment

If you know you will be working on a tough task, ensure that you can work peacefully and undisturbed. Plan to work these tough tasks in a quiet and comfortable corner of the office, or try working from home. Working in solitude in the corner of your regular coffee shop can also be motivating.

Using Technology

Having the right tools and technology is really important. This will save time and enable you to achieve whatever goals you have without difficulty. Technology can also play a huge part in helping you plan and manage tasks throughout the day.

Plan A Few Breaks

A break of as little as 10 minutes can be helpful. Get up and out of your seat. Take deep breaths. Go for a walk and look around at nature. Cheer yourself up by talking to friends and colleagues and get a clear perspective. All this will help you reduce stress at work.

Review And Reward

Check on what you have accomplished during the day. If you find you couldn’t do enough, don’t be disappointed, but rather think honestly about why it happened. Monitoring what the things that helped you be more productive were and what were obstacles in your productivity will assist you.

This will help you in learning and developing good practices and habits in becoming more productive during the day. On the other hand, always congratulate yourself on a well-done task, appreciate yourself and give yourself a deserving pat on the back.

Be Flexible With Your Plans

Have a strong work ethic and be flexible. Don’t waste precious time in the office checking social media sites like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.

Knowing how to make the most of your time at the workplace, avoiding gossip, acting, and not reacting to situations out of your control can reduce stress levels. If you think you are overworking yourself, don’t hesitate to adjust your plans and make your workday a little easier.

Final Thoughts

Planning ahead can literally reduce stress and bring more productivity to your day-to-day work life at the office. Planning will allow you to get more done, reach your goals, keep you on track, and bring structure to your daily life.
